Joan
Smalls the new face of supermodel for this generation
is quickly becoming a super-role model to so many young
female Latinas. The
bilingual stunner is the first Puerto Rican to ever
have the title of supermodel.
This
year we saw Smalls along with her bff Karlie Kloss transform
from model to supermodels as they became the dynamic
duo.
This Spring having just wrapped up an incredible month
of fashion weeks for the Fall/Winter season , Joan announce
her first Vogue cover for the March 2012 issue of Vogue
Italia. After a very long month of runway shows in four
countries, that first cover felt very rewarding with
Joan saying, "Dreams really do come true."
That
first Vogue cover would go on to a 2nd cover for the
May issue of Vogue Australia, followed by her sexy GQ
South Africa cover and editorial with Joan tweeting,
"All the boys that were mean to me in junior high,
look at me now."
As
the face of Estee Lauder Joan Smalls was on her way
to becoming a supermodel house hold name with those
beautiful commercials and stand out campaigns. Her success
continue with campaigns for Dior, Chanel, Calvin Klien,
the list just goes on and on.
In July she was photographed by Mario Testino for the
face of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2013.
That same month marked another pinnacle for the supermodel
as she and Karlie Kloss landed double covers for W magazine,
rightful titled Modern Supermodel.
The
year of 'dreams do come true' continued with two more
Vogue covers, and sexy one for Harper's Bazaar, along
with editorials after editorial. Though, the editorial
that stood out was the one for Vogue which had her entire
family on photo shoot in Puerto Rico, that gave us a
glimpse of Joan showing a few of her Salsa dance moves.
She
set the runways on fire this year from her jaw dropping
walk for Jean Paul Gaultier to our overall favorite
supermodel at the 2012 VS Fashion Show.
This has been one amazing year for the supermodel whom
first inkling of a fashion magazine was the VS catalogue,
who lost her first modeling competitions, and who was
told to get her teeth fixed before going back to modeling
agencies in NYC. Look at her now, she's on top of the
world as co-host for MTV's new House of Style and ranked
at the top of the supermodel list.
