Gisele can be considered queen of the Brazilian supermodel
explosion that started over a decade ago. She helped
paved the way for names such as Alessandra, Adriana,
Ana, and Izabel. Not to mention she is one of the top
grossing supermodels of all time and her Brazilian model
friends are right behind her.
She
started her career over a decade ago, yet thisBrazilian
beauty standing at 5'11" is still the most sought
after supermodel in the industry today. One of the leading
fashion magazines has credit Gisele for the return of
the sexy model, something that was lost since the supermodels
of the late 80's.
Her road to the top of the supermodel world happened
all by chance. She was spotted by an agent from the
Elite Modeling Agency while eating a big mac at a Sao
Paulo McDonald's while on a trip from her home town
of Horizontina, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.
Despite her father's lack of approval of the career
choice, he allowed her to move to Sao Paulo at the young
age 14. While in Sao Paulo, Gisele entered the "Elite
Look Modeling Competition" in 1995 and her career
took off faster than a backstage pass to a Victoria's
Secret fashion show.
Now
the girl that was once teased by classmates, with nickname
Olive Oil, from the Popeye the Sailor cartoons for being
so thin and tall, was soon living the life of a supermodel.
She was off traveling to exotic locations for photo
shoots, walking the runways for today's top fashion
designers, becoming a Victoria's
Secret angel,
and appearing on cover after cover of fashion magazines.
Gisele
went on to do campaigns for major fashion houses such
as Ralph Lauren,Versace, Dolce & Gabbana, Valentino,
Celine, Gianfranco Ferre, Chloe, Victoria's
Secret,
the list goes one
Along
the way she set record for magazines covers in every
country such as Vogue, Allure, Marie Claire, Harper's
Bazaar, and Elle.
She
was the face of Victoria's Secret for almost ten years
until ending her contract in 2008.
Over
the years she has won many awards such as "model
of the year" from the Vogue
/ VH1 fashion awards. Her
career has continued to grow and branch out in many
directions. With her success she was able to create
the Luz Foundation, a project to empower girls and help
them deal with self-esteem issues.
Her
shoe line, Ipanema by Gisele Bündchen donates a portion
of the profits from her Brazilian line of flip-flops
to protect Amazon rain-forest water. This is among other
Brazilian programs she has started to protect waterways
and restore deforested areas of Brazil.
Along
with so many projects in her life she has also been
fortunate enough to find time for true love. She married
NFL star quarterback Tom Brady and took a little time
off from modeling to have her first child.
She's been a very busy supermodel mom over the years,
working on her skin care products and keeping busy with
her shoe line, while creating designs for lingerie collection
Brazilian Intimates.
So
here we have Gisele Bundchen, supermodel , super-mom,
